DUBROVNIK
“If you want to see paradise on earth, come to Dubrovnik“ – that is how George Bernard Shaw described the beauty of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. It is one of the prime examples of medieval architecture in the Mediterranean protected by UNESCO since 1979. It's an old, but a living city, where you can explore many historical, cultural and religious sites. You can visit one of the oldest European pharmacies established in 1317 in the Franciscan Monastery, take a walk through the Dominican Monastery to see a valuable Tizian's painting from the 16th century or discover the secrets of Dubrovnik Cathedral and its treasury. The most impressive monument in Dubrovnik are the City Walls – the best preserved medieval walls in Europe, almost 2 km long, up to 25 meters high and in some places even 6 meters thick. To admire the panoramic view of the Old Town, you can take the cable car to the Hill of Srđ. In one of the numerous restaurants you can enjoy authentic local delicacies and taste the best Croatian wines.
DUBROVNIK SUMMER FESTIVAL
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival is an annually-held festival instituted in 1950 in Dubrovnik. Every year from the 10th of July to the 25th of August, you can enjoy numerous classical music, theatre, opera and dance performances. Except the works of local writers Marin Držić, Nikola Nalješković, Ivan Gundulić i Ivo Vojnović, many classics of European dramatic art have been presented, including works of Shakespeare, Goldoni, Moliere and many others.
